2015 NFL Draft: Breaking down the St. Louis Rams’ undrafted signees

With the 2015 NFL complete, the St. Louis Rams picked up 15 undrafted players to bring into this offseason’s rookie mini-camp. Here is a breakdown of each prospect the Rams added:

Malcolm Brown, RB, Texas

The former Longhorn tailback finished ninth in school history with 2,678 rushing yards. His 11 career 100-yard rushing games have him tied for seventh in program history, and his 24 career rushing touchdowns are just three shy from placing inside Texas’ all-time top 10. Brown is a two-time All-Big 12 selection by the coaches (second team in both 2013 & ‘14), and also played in the 2015 East-West Shrine Game.

Terrence Franks, RB, Texas State

Franks spent four years playing for the Bobcats racking up 2,045 rushing yards with 24 touchdowns, and 36 receptions for six touchdowns. In 2014, he was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week and College Football Performance Awards’ National Running Back of the Week after recording for a career-best 284 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries against Idaho.

Montell Garner, CB, South Alabama

After spending his first two years in junior college, Garner played his last two seasons for South Alabama. He was named to the preseason second-team All-Sun Belt Conference by Phil Steele Publications and Athlon Sports last season. In 2014, he had 54 total tackles with two forced fumbles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, and two interceptions.

Imoan Claiborne, CB, Northwestern State

In his four-year collegiate career, Claiborne developed into a press-coverage cornerback. In 2014, he had four interceptions along with 48 total tackles and three forced fumbles in 11 games played. He was on the College Football Performance Awards Watch list, and a Southland Conference Preseason All-Conference team first team selection prior to last season.

Isiah Ferguson, WR, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

The former Golden Lion wideout played three seasons totaling 51 receptions with 796 receiving yards and three touchdowns. In 2014, he was tied for second on the team with 25 catches for 343 receiving yards and a touchdown in nine games played. He possesses an ideal body frame for a wide receiver at 6’6″ and 210 lbs along with decent speed as he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at his pro day.

Jacob Hagen, S,  Liberty

The former Liberty safety started all 14 games in 2014, which he led the team with 108 total tackles and eight interceptions. Hagen is a versatility defensive back with plenty of athleticism. He put that on full display at his pro day where he had a 36 1/2-inch vertical leap and 10-foot-4 broad jump.

Jay Hughes, CB, Missisippi State

After missing the last 12 games of the 2013 season due an Achilles injury, he played in all 13 games last year recording 26 tackles with two pass breakups and two interceptions. Hughes played a total of 40 games for the Bulldogs with 16 starts and notched 70 career tackles with 3.0 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two interceptions.

Cameron Lynch, LB, Syracuse

Lynch spent four years with Syracuse posting his best season in 2014 with 97 total tackles, 12.0 tackles for a loss, 7.0 sacks and one forced fumble in 12 games played. This was following a productive 2013 where he had 69 total tackles with 12.0 tackles for a loss, 4.0 sacks, and two interceptions. He was also a Phil Steele All-ACC Third Team selection for the 2014 season.

Keshaun Malone, LB, Bacone

In his senior season in 2014, Malone had a monstrous campaign with 135 total tackles, five interceptions, and a sack. This helped him earn the honor of being named the Central States Football League’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Zach Laskey, FB, Georgia Tech

Despite missing three games due to injury in the 2014 season, Laskey rushed for 851 yards and had a team-best nine rushing touchdowns. He finished his career 13th in school history with 2,033 rushing yards and was named to 2014 All-ACC Second Team by the media and coaches.

Matt Longacre, DE, Northwest Missouri State

The former Bearcat defensive end had 37 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, 17 quarterback hurries, four pass breakups and one forced fumble in 11 games played last season. His play helped him earn numerous awards in 2014 such as MIAA Defensive Player of the Year, named an AFCA All-America, and selected to the All-MIAA First Team.

Darrell Williams,  OL,  South Florida

Williams was the starting left tackle for South Florida over the last two seasons. He played a key part last year in helping running back Marlon Mack post just the fourth 1,000-yard rushing season in program history, and a school and conference record 275 rushing yards against Western Carolina. His 6’5″ and 307 lbs. body frame is ideal for his position at the next level.

Bradley Marquez, WR, Texas Tech

The former Red Raider wideout had his best collegiate season in 2014 with 65 catches for 821 receiving yards with a Big-12 leading 10 touchdowns. He was named a All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and was an Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection. Marquez also had at least one catch in 41 out of 43 career games.

Tyler Slavin, WR, New Mexico Highlands

Slavin was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (Division II) Offensive Player of the Year following a productive 2014 season where he had 119 receptions for 1,418 yards, 17 touchdowns, and averaged 128.9 receiving yards per game. He spent his first two years with Arizona, which he posted 22 catches for 224 yards and one touchdown in 2012.

Louis Trinca-Pasat,  DT,  Iowa

The former Hawkeye defensive lineman was a three-year starter that had a standout 2014 season with 69 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks and three pass deflections in 13 games played. He was also named to the Second-Team All-Big Ten last season.
