The Los Angeles Rams (11-2) turned in their worst offensive performance of the season with their 15-6 loss at the Chicago Bears (9-4) on Sunday, December 9. The Rams dropped to the No. 2 seed behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC playoff race.
Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky gave the Rams an early gift with a Marcus Peters interception in the first quarter. The Chicago defense shut down the Rams on three plays and held them to a field goal. From that point forward, the Bears defense dominated one of the NFL’s top offenses.
Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed only 16 of 30 passes for 110 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. However, it was the Bears’ running game and defense that made up for the struggling Trubisky. Running back Jordan Howard registered 19 carries for 101 yards, and Tarik Cohen added nine carries for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, Rams quarterback Jared Goff struggled for the second straight game. He completed 20 of 44 passes for 180 yards and four interceptions. Running back Todd Gurley carried the ball only 11 times for 28 yards.
The Rams’ loss puts them at the mercy of the Saints. They need to win the rest of their games and hope that New Orleans drops a game if the Rams are to gain home-field advantage.
The Rams return home to face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday, December 16 at 5:20 p.m. PT on NBC.
