The Los Angeles Rams have formally announced the signing of former XFL kicker Austin MacGinnis on their official Twitter account. The announcement came a little bit after news broke about the agreement for Lirim Hajrullahu.

The departing of Greg Zuerlein leaves big cleats to fill in, which is why the Rams are making this a competition. This competition is one of the more unusual battles considering MacGinnis is a stud from the XFL and Hajrullahu is a pro from the CFL.

MacGinnins’s story is interesting since he dominated the AAF and the XFL. During his time with the Dallas Renegades, he made 10/10 field goals and had several touchbacks.

This is going to be a major battle during training camp and the preseason. It wouldn’t be a surprise that either MacGinnis or Hajrullahu will be kept on the practice squad should either of them not make the active roster. It may be a tough choice considering both players did well in their respective leagues.
