The Los Angeles Rams enter their Week 12 matchup against the New Orleans Saints missing a critical cog in their offense: leading receiver Robert Woods. Unsurprisingly, the media picked up on the problem facing the Rams.
Here is what the NFL media is saying about the Rams entering Thanksgiving break:
L.A. Times beat reporter Gary Klein breaks down Rams quarterback Jared Goff’s options against the Saints. He also covers the team’s cornerback moves with both Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman in danger of missing this Sunday’s game. Finally, Klein highlighted linebacker Alec Ogletree’s trip home to deliver turkeys in his hometown of Newman, Georgia.
Orange County Register beat writer Vinny Bonsignore looks at the effects of the NFL’s new rules on kickoff returns. He highlights the impact wide receiver Pharoh Cooper makes in his role as the team’s kick returner. Cooper’s aggressive nature in the kick return game has reaped rewards for the Rams.
Rams insider Myles Simmons answers the same question everyone else is asking: How will the team replace Woods? Simmons mentions that the Rams will try to replace Woods’s production by committee, but he focuses on Sammy Watkins, Tavon Austin and Cooper in particular.
ESPN staff writer Josh Weinfuss focuses on former Rams wide receiver and current Hall of Fame semifinalist Torry Holt. The 7-time Pro Bowler compares the “Greatest Show on Turf” Rams with the 2017 version of the team. Holts sees several parallels between the two teams. He cites similarities in free agency, the passing game, cornerback play and the special teams in his assessment.
The Rams return home to play the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, November 26 at 1:25 p.m. PT on CBS. Check out our Rams Talk Radio podcast previewing the battle of first place NFC teams here.
