The Los Angeles Rams traded for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft in a deal with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, April 14. The Titans received the Rams’ 15th overall pick among others in the deal.
The Rams also gained the Titans’ 2016 fourth round pick (No. 113) and sixth round pick (No. 177). In addition, the Rams surrendered their two 2016 second round picks (No. 43 and No. 45,) a third round pick (No. 76) and their first and third round draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, according to ESPN writer Paul Kuharsky.
This puts the Rams in position to draft anyone in the first round, and they will likely use the No. 1 overall pick to select one of the top two quarterbacks available. Both California QB Jared Goff and North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz have been linked to being this year’s No. 1 overall pick. The Rams must have a lot of faith in their target, because they gave up quite bit and will have a much smaller draft class as a result of this blockbuster trade.
