The Los Angeles Rams will host their rival San Francisco 49ers in China during the 2018 season, according Don Muret of the Sports Business Daily. It is possible that the game will be the Rams’ home opener.
The team agreed to play a home game per season overseas over the next three years as part of the NFL’s international initiative. Rams owner Stan Kroenke appears to be using the league’s overseas games to raise the Rams’ international profile while his state of the art stadium is under construction in Inglewood, California.
The NFL has yet to confirm this report.
“We have not announced the Rams’ opponent in the event we play a game there [China],” NFL vice president/communications Brian McCarthy told the Sports Business Daily. “We have said we are exploring playing a game there but nothing is definitive.”
Rams Talk will continue to update this story if it develops.
