Los Angeles Rams’ Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood stepped up to the podium and announced that with the 44th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Rams select TE Gerald Everett from University of South Alabama. The Rams traded their 37th pick earlier to the Buffalo Bills, along with their 5th round, 149th overall pick. In return, the Rams received 44th pick and a 3rd round, 91st pick overall.
Everett measures in at 6-foot-3 and weighs 239 lbs. Here are his NFL Combine results:
He earned first-team All-Sun Belt notice in 2015 (41 receptions-575 yards, eight TD) and 2016 (49 receptions-717 yards, four TD). Everett somewhat resembles Delanie Walker at times. He possesses good size, speed and phenomenal run-after-catch potential. His ability to block is what separates him from other tight ends.
Everett needs to work on his route because he tends to round off his angles. After some coaching and time in the league, he has the potential to be a Pro Bowl tight end. Some NFL Scouts believe that Everett could end up being one of the top pass-catching tight ends in the league.
