The Los Angeles Rams held off the Tennessee Titans in a 27-23 brawl on Sunday, December 24. The Rams (11-4) ended their playoff drought and clinched the NFC West with the victory over the Titans (8-7).
The Rams struggled quite a bit in the Music City, but they held off the Titans with great offensive production from Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. Goff took advantage of a banged up Titans secondary and threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns. Gurley compiled 118 yards on the ground, 158 yards receiving, and two touchdowns while eclipsing 2,000 total yards on the year.
Meanwhile, the Titans challenged the Rams defensive and special teams units. Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota passed for 275 yards, but the Rams picked him off once. They also featured former USC star Adoree’ Jackson in the return game. He put the Titans in solid field position throughout the game
Los Angeles dealt with other issues in the return game. Newly signed kicker Sam Ficken missed an extra point attempt and a field goal early in the game. The Rams revealed their lack of confidence in Ficken by attempting to convert on fourth down early in the first quarter rather than settling for a long field goal attempt.
