2016 First Round (No. 1 Overall): CAL QB Jared Goff
Still a staple of the offense and expected to continue to do great things for the Rams, Goff has grown into his position since being drafted. The Los Angeles Rams selected Goff out of CAL, and he was placed behind veteran quarterback Case Keenum. Keenum was replaced by Goff midseason after a 4-5 record. Starting in just seven games 2016, Goff threw for 112 completions for 1,089 yards and five touchdowns. He also had one rushing touchdown.
The Rams had an incredible turnaround in 2017 and Goff was a major factor in that change. He completed 296 passes for 3,804 yards and 28 touchdowns. In 2018, Goff earned 364 completions for 4,688 yards and 32 touchdowns. The Rams boasted a 13-3 record and played in Super Bowl LIII. In 2019, Goff seemed to regress a bit due to offensive line struggles and failed adjustments. He still had a decent season given the Rams’ 9-7 record. Goff had a career-high number of completions with 394 for 4,638 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. He also had a career low 22 sacks. Goff’s career stats are 1,166 completions for 14,219 yards and 87 touchdowns. He also has six rushing touchdowns.
Tight end Tyler Higbee was also a great 2016 pick. No one saw what Higbee would become until this season and he is already breaking records, but Goff is a major part of his success too.
