The St. Louis Rams waived former 2012 second round pick Isaiah Pead after sustaining a torn ACL. Pead will be placed on the injured reserve if no other team claims him, according to USA Today beat writer Tom Pelissero. Pead also has the option to agree on an injury settlement, which would make him a free agent.
The Rams are considering their options as the team is slated to trim the roster from 90 players to 75 on Aug. 26 and to 53 players on Aug. 30. Pead will most likely clear waivers, and the Rams will probably bring him back and place him on the IR list.
Pead was supposed to earn about $1.1 million in 2014 and $1.2 million in 2015. Benny Cunningham, Zac Stacy and Tre Mason are all under contract next season, so Pead will need to compete for a roster spot once again if the Rams bring him back.
