The Los Angeles Rams were hit with the injury bug once again, this time with OLB Terrell Lewis being placed on the Reserve/NFI list. Lewis suffered an apparent knee injury a few weeks back and was already ruled out for the Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. This move will keep Lewis out for at least six weeks.
This announcement made on the Rams Twitter account can be looked at in two ways. The obvious first way is it’s disappointing to see a promising young rookie to be away for at least six weeks. The second way to look at this scenario is it could have been a lot worse. When dealing with anything knee-related, this could have been out for the entire season, maybe longer.
By placing Lewis on the Reserve/NFI list, this opened up a roster spot for RB Raymond Calais, making the Rams’ 53-man roster complete for now.
Other News:
- The Rams signed DB J.R. Reed to the practice squad. Reed previously signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia. He was recently waived, which allowed the Rams to sign him. The former Bulldog was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. Reed finished with 54 total tackles, an interception and four pass deflections.
- The Rams additionally named their 2020 captain as the following: Jared Goff, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Andrew Whitworth, Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, John Johnson and Johnny Hekker. Surprisingly, the recently extended CB Jalen Ramsey was not named one of the captains. These captains are voted on by the players.
