The Los Angeles Rams will sign former Lions DT A’Shawn Robinson to replace Michael Brockers. The contract is a 2-year, $17 million deal, according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero.
The Rams are making an effort to replace some of the departing talent. Robinson was highly touted coming from the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Detroit Lions originally selected him 46th overall of the 2016 NFL Draft. He started off strong in his first two seasons, but slowed production the past two seasons due to injuries.
In the four seasons with the Lions he earned 172 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 16 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Stats are hard to really judge, but remember that the injuries do factor in as does the position too.
So now the Rams have one less starting position to worry about. Now they must shift their focus on finding a replacement for Cory Littleton. While Brockers will be missed, it’s an intriguing defensive line still with Aaron Donald, Sebastian Joseph-Day and now Robinson.
