St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey will rejoin the team this week after the league lifted his four-game suspension. The NFL passed a new policy for performance-enhancing drugs, which dismissed the remaining two games left on Bailey’s suspension since it fell under the old policy.
The NFL and NFLPA announced the new performance enhancing drug policy Wednesday morning. A player that has tested positive on a banned amphetamine substance will now be placed under the substance abuse policy which does not result in an immediate four-game suspension.
Bailey is one of three notable players that were reinstated, including Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker and Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick. All three players are eligible to compete in Week 3.
Bailey comes back at a crucial time since the Rams have lost the services of Tavon Austin due to a sprained MCL. Austin is expected to miss at least two weeks. Defensive tackle Matt Conrath was released earlier in the week to make room for Bailey.
