St. Louis Rams running back Isaiah Pead reportedly tore his ACL during the Rams’ 21-7 loss against the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Jeff Fisher announced that Pead may be out for the rest of the season during his postgame press conference. Pead is scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow to confirm the tear, according to NFL reporter Ian Rappaport.
Pead sustained a non-contact injury while returning a kickoff in the first quarter. He wasn’t hit by any defenders, but he bent his leg awkwardly before falling to the ground. He was later carted off the field to the locker room.
Pead was drafted by the Rams in the second round (50th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft. Pead hasn’t quite lived up to his draft status, earning just 75 yards in his entire NFL career. He was competing for spot on the roster against Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and rookie Tre Mason. It’s not clear yet what the Rams’ plans are for Pead entering the regular season.
