It’s that time of year again, and we aren’t talking about the radio blaring holiday music. Defensive end Robert Quinn and rookie defensive tackle Aaron Donald received an early Christmas present by being selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl. One of the few bright spots for the St. Louis Rams this season was the defensive line, so it comes as no surprise that these two made it to the roster.
Quinn and most of the Rams’ defensive line got off to a slow start, but eventually the dominant defensive unit began terrorizing opposing offenses. Quinn was a huge factor in this, and while his numbers are down from last season, he still contributed enough to make the Pro Bowl roster. So far this season Quinn has a total of 10.5 sacks, 39 tackles, five forced fumbles and six pass deflections.
Looking more towards the interior of the defensive line, Donald has easily been the Rams’ most consistent player. Experts questioned whether or not if Donald’s high motor and work ethic would be enough for him to succeed in the NFL; consider their questions answered. The prized 2014 NFL Draft pick has accumulated 34 tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble and one pass deflection. Those are exactly the kind of numbers that Rams’ general manager Les Snead hoped for from Donald.
Tune in on Wednesday, January 21 for the 2015 Pro Bowl Draft. This year’s captains are Hall of Fame wide receivers Michael Irvin and Cris Carter. The Pro Bowl will take place in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, January 25.
