The Rams recently brought back Austin Blythe to be the team’s starting center. However, Blythe isn’t a huge or lengthy investment. If the Rams brought in Ruiz to compete for the starting role, the Rams could opt to shift Blythe to guard instead. Having a bigger mauler guiding the snaps with his strength is certainly something the Rams could use on their offensive line.
The Brian Allen experiment didn’t appear to work and he could still be used as depth. Center is about the only position on the offensive line that a rookie could potentially start immediately. Personally, I believe Ruiz would be a huge upgrade, so here’s hoping he can somehow make his way down to pick 52. Read more about Ruiz here.
