The St. Louis Rams will have to find a way to win without their starting quarterback once again. Sam Bradford will miss the 2014 season after tearing his ACL for the second time in less than a year, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch beat writer Jim Thomas and other sources. Shaun Hill or Austin Davis will take over as the starter.
Bradford’s injury is devastating for a team playing one of the league’s most difficult schedules in pro football’s toughest decision. The Rams will likely focus on a power-running offense and rely on their starter to manage the game.
Meanwhile, it would not be surprising to see the Rams cut Bradford, whose salary brings more than a $16 million cap hit this season. Releasing Bradford would allow the team to shore up other positions before Week 1.
The Rams will finish their preseason against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, August 28.
