Offseason 2017: Rams add veteran C John Sullivan

The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly signed veteran center John Sullivan as per NFL Insider, Ian Rapoport.

The Rams have been eyeing to replace Tim Barnes, and may have done just that with Sullivan. The Rams attempted to reel in Buffalo Bills’ center Ryan Groy by signing him to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent, but the Bills matched the offer. Sullivan, 31, adds the much-needed veteran presence the Rams have been seeking at the center position.

Rams head coach Sean McVay is familiar with Sullivan as he served mostly as a backup with the Washington Redskins behind Spencer Long last season. Sullivan is a veteran better known with the Minnesota Vikings, especially during running back Adrian Peterson’s prime years.

The Rams may look to add another center during the 2017 NFL Draft for depth purposes. It also couldn’t hurt a rookie to learn from Sullivan. Currently, the only true center on the Rams roster is Demetrius Rhaney, and he may be competing for a job this summer.
