The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to a deal with FB/TE Cory Harkey. The contract details haven’t been announced yet, but he will be part of the 2016 team according to ESPN beat writer Nick Wagoner.
Harkey has played an underrated role since joining the team back in 2012 as an undrafted free agent from UCLA. He won’t have flashy numbers, but he is an efficient blocker and has come in handy over the years. He’s even taken snaps as a fullback to help lead the way for our running backs.
Don’t be surprised to see him catch a couple of passes or do some rushing attempts. He does have some experience with both over the past couple years. That said, expect the Rams to continue to shop for a pass-catching tight end either through free agency or the 2016 NFL Draft since they cut Jared Cook earlier in the offseason. The Rams did take a look at Zach Miller but he opted to return to the Chicago Bears.
