The Los Angeles Rams released veteran wide receiver Stedman Bailey by using the non-football injury designation on Tuesday afternoon.

Bailey is still recovering from two gunshot wounds to the head that he suffered last November, and he is yet to receive medical clearance to resume football activity. Despite his lack of clearance, Bailey has been attending the Rams organized team activities while aiding the wide receivers in various drills. The 25-year-old is expected to return to the team in a non-playing role if he clears waivers.

Since the Rams selected Bailey in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, he has racked up 59 catches for 853 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bailey has also been suspended twice by the NFL due to violating the league substance abuse policy.

Los Angeles also waived wide receiver Kain Colter, defensive tackle Doug Worthington and linebacker Zack Hodges. The team is expected to depend on Tavon Austin, Brian Quick, Kenny Britt and rookie Pharoh Cooper as the primary targets in the receiving corps.
