The Los Angeles Rams’ front office is no stranger to moving the chess pieces of the NFL Draft in their favor. The Rams have been fortunate enough to find diamonds in the rough. The last decade between 2010 and 2019 yielded several gems that produced beyond expectations. Some of these players are still on the roster and should be playing in 2020. Others have moved on to other teams.

Below are the Rams’ best draft picks from each year from 2010-2019:

2010 Second Round (33rd overall): Indiana LG Rodger Saffold

Without question, Saffold is missed by the Rams. He was a reliable offensive lineman and one of the best picks of the decade. Drafted by the St. Louis Rams out of Indiana, Saffold played nine seasons with the Rams. He was the most tenured player on the team before his departure from Los Angeles to the Tennessee Titans in 2019.

Saffold held the line at left guard for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, providing great protection for quarterback Jared Goff. He played in almost every game between 2014 and 2018, except the 2015 season where he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. He was a valuable part of the offense, playing at nearly every offensive line position throughout his career.

Even though quarterback Sam Bradford was the No. 1 overall pick the same year, Saffold proved to be the better selection as the unsung hero. He also lasted four more seasons than Bradford. Bradford put up some solid numbers for a few seasons, but could never really step up his game. His unfortunate season-ending knee injuries in 2013 and 2014 did not help his case.
