Letter From the Editor: The Future of Rams Talk

Dear Ramily,

As we enter our sixth season covering the Rams, it’s become clear that times are changing in sports media. I’ve watched site after site built to cover this team over the last six years, and so many of them have fallen by the wayside. The truth is the only way we have stayed in business is by the devotion of our small crew of staff members and some devoted readers.  It’s a tough business, and it will only get tougher as the demand for more Los Angeles Rams content grows.

Here’s the truth: we love this team. We aren’t objective journalists, although we do our best to be objective. Covering the Rams is a privilege to us. It’s a journey we take every season hoping you’ll come along. Together, we all feel the pain of a tough loss and the thrill of an amazing win. Like many members of the Rams family, we enjoy the history of this franchise. We love to read stories about legends like Jack Youngblood, Bob Waterfield, Merlin Olsen and Deacon Jones. It brings us great joy to relive the memories of Super Bowl XXXIV. We love this team, even in the down years.

However, we’re also hard workers that do this as a side project. I teach high school social studies. Norm works in construction. Steve has multiple jobs as does Johnny. We don’t have the time to produce as much written content as we’d like. It’s actually easier for us to hop on and do a podcast. So that’s what we have done. Our goal is to provide you with as much content as possible, both written and audio. This is why we started Butting Heads with Steve and Johnny. It’s also why we invited the guys from Rampage Radio to podcast with us. Our goal is to provide you with enough high quality content that we’ll become one of your top sources for Rams’ stuff. That’s not to say there aren’t other great sources with Rams’ content. There definitely is. Instead, we want to earn your trust. We want you to choose us. So we’re giving it all we have and inviting you along for the ride.

If you’re interested in joining our staff and being part of this, send us an email with a resume at ramstalk1945@gmail.com. Or if you’d like to sponsor us, email us at the same address or call us at 657-666-5453. I’d be lying if I said we don’t need help. We do, and I ask that you consider partnering with us.

Ramily, you mean the world to Rams Talk. Thank you for reading our articles and listening to our shows. We appreciate the iTunes reviews, the interaction on social media, and your willingness to trust Rams Talk for your content. Thank you for everything. Now let’s hit it hard for the 2018 NFL season.

Sincerely,

Derek Ciapala                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Managing Editor,                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Rams Talk
