The Los Angeles Rams’ faint playoff hopes took a major hit when they suffered an embarrassing 49-21 loss at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, November 27. The Rams have now lost 6 of 7 games and sit at 4-7 on the season.
Rams rookie quarterback Jared Goff led his team downfield quickly following the opening kickoff, culminating in a 24-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tavon Austin. Goff later put his team ahead 14-7 with a 6-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kenny Britt following a turnover. Unfortunately, the Rams proved unable to keep up with the Saints after that.
New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and running back Mark Ingram took over the game. Brees completed 28 of 36 passes for 310 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Ingram paced the running game with 14 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown. Most of their yardage came in a 21-point second quarter barrage that left the Rams defense winded entering halftime.
Goff completed 20 of 32 passes for 214 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to lead the Rams. Running back Todd Gurley struggled again behind the beleaguered L.A. offensive line, gaining 50 yards on 13 carries.
The Rams travel to New England to face the Patriots next Sunday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. PT on Fox.
