The Los Angeles Rams used their draft pick from the Brandin Cooks trade on Florida WR Van Jefferson. The Rams opted to stay at pick 57 and went after Jefferson instead of Baylor WR Denzel Mims.
When thinking of Jefferson, route-running immediately comes to mind. He’s easily one of the better route-runners in the draft class with excellent hands. He has a strong football IQ and is one that knows how to create separation. He does lack quickness and isn’t the best blocker, but is someone that a quarterback can rely on.
Despite losing Cooks, the Rams are still loaded at receiver with Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds. Jefferson will have to show plenty of promise to see any playing time in 2020. Still, the more weapons for Jared Goff, the better.
Technically, Jefferson started off at Ole Miss for three seasons and transferred to Florida for two more seasons. In the two seasons with the Gators he had 84 receptions for 1,160 yards and 12 touchdowns. One of the reasons he wasn’t more touted was the lack of production.
