The Los Angeles Rams selected California quarterback Jared Goff with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28. Goff is the Rams’ first quarterback selection in the opening round since they took Sam Bradford No. 1 overall in 2010.
Goff was considered by many to be the best quarterback in the draft this year. He started every game for the three years he played at Cal. A California native, Goff seems like the prefect fit to lead the Rams in their homecoming season in Los Angeles.
The Rams broke the bank to bring in what they hope will be their new franchise quarterback. They traded two first round picks, two second round picks, and two third round picks over the next two years to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for this pick. There will be a lot of pressure to produce as the Rams return to Los Angeles for the first time since 1994.
The Rams also received a fourth and sixth round pick from the Titans. They return to Los Angeles for their first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on August 13.
