The Los Angeles Rams signed former New England Patriots defensive lineman Dominique Easley to a one-year contract on Tuesday, May 17, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The Patriots selected Easley with the 29th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, but he never lived up to his draft status in two seasons with the team. Injuries were a problem for Easley in New England, which was a repeat of his poor fortune after tearing two ACLs while in college at Florida.
If healthy, Easley gives the Rams a player who can fill the gaps left by Nick Fairley’s departure from the interior defensive line. During his two years in New England, Easley showed that he is more than capable of disrupting opposing offensive lines in obvious passing situations. The Rams will seek to utilize his skills in similar situations in Los Angeles.
Easley appeared in 22 games as a Patriot, recording 24 tackles, three sacks and an interception while playing both defensive end and tackle during his two seasons.
