Top 5 AAF players that were former Rams

QB Garrett Gilbert, Orlando Apollos

Stats: 2,152 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Gilbert’s name doesn’t ring a bell? That’s not surprising considering he was drafted back in 2014 out of SMU in the sixth round. The 214th overall pick didn’t have much of an opportunity, and did find himself on the practice squad before being cut. He did serve reserve roles for the New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers before signing with the Apollos.

Judging by the stats, maybe teams in the NFL should be more patient with certain prospects? Gilbert led the AAF in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns. The Apollos are the best team in the AAF with an impressive record of 7-1. Now that the league is shutdown, it didn’t take long for the Cleveland Browns to snatch him up to backup Baker Mayfield.
