2017 Third Round (69th overall): Eastern Washington WR Cooper Kupp
The Rams currently have six players from the 2017 NFL Draft that are still on the roster or the practice squad. While some of those players are exceptional, Kupp is the top pick. The Rams drafted the 6’2,” 205-pound wide receiver out of Eastern Washington and have not regretted it one bit. Kupp has a career 196 receptions for 2,596 yards and 21 touchdowns.
He continues to progress each season. Unfortunately, his 2018 season was cut short due to a knee injury suffered in Week 10. He rebounded this season with a career-high 94 catches for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kupp specializes as a slot receiver who makes spectacular catches and can break tackles for big yardage. He grew to become one of Goff’s favorite targets.
Tight end Gerald Everett, safety John Johnson, wide receiver Josh Reynolds (a replacement for Kupp in 2018), linebacker Samson Ebukam and defensive tackle Tanzel Smart were all drafted in 2017. Most have been welcome additions to the Rams, making big plays, especially in the historic matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. Kupp is not slowing down anytime soon and 2020 should be another great season for him.
