The Los Angeles Rams trade WR Brandin Cooks to Houston Texans for 2020 2nd round pick

The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly traded WR Brandin Cooks and a 2022 fourth round pick to the Houston Texans. The Rams will receive a 2020 second round pick (No. 57), according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

The speculation is official over. Cooks has been the center of trade rumors since the beginning of free agency. The Texans fulfill a huge need at wide receiver after sending DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

This puts the Rams in an interesting position ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Rams don’t possess a first round pick, but this trade gives the team two second round draft picks. Since general manager Les Snead is notorious for draft day trades, don’t be surprised if he trades into the first round if he finds a prospect he truly likes.

Cooks served the Rams well, but didn’t have a great 2019 season. Still, Cooks was a major contributor during the Rams’ Super Bowl LIII run. In two seasons with the team, he earned 1,787 receiving yards on 122 receptions and scored eight total touchdowns.

Cooks has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career so far. The New Orleans Saints traded him to the New England Patriots, and then was sent to Los Angeles a year later. Now he will join Deshaun Watson in Houston.
