The Los Angeles Rams Acquire WR Brandin Cooks

The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly acquired WR Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots for the 23rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Rams will send their sixth-round pick, and the Patriots included their fourth-round pick, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Cooks was acquired by the Patriots last season for a first and third round pick. The investment went fairly well considering he earned 1,082 receiving yards and 7 touchdown receptions.

The Rams may have found their replacement for Sammy Watkins, but he comes with a similar contract situation. Cooks is scheduled to make $8.5 million in the final year of his rookie contract. This means the Rams may need to talk about an extension during the middle of the season if they want to keep him.

This move likely nullifies any pursuit of the New York Giants’ WR Odell Beckham Jr. Cooks brings a No. 1 receiver presence at a reduced cost.
