Offseason 2016: The Los Angeles Rams bring back DE Eugene Sims for three more years

Defensive end Eugene Sims is sticking around in Los Angeles as the Rams signed him to a 3-year, $10 million contract with $3.75 million of it guaranteed. News broke yesterday on Sims’s Instagram page with the caption, “I’LL BE BACH!” It just became official this morning.

This leaves the Rams with one less position to worry about with both Sims and William Hayes signed back to the roster. Sims has done a solid job since joining the Rams as sixth round pick (189th overall) during the 2010 NFL Draft. Sims has especially shined during injuries to both Robert Quinn and recently cut Chris Long.

Sims will likely continue his role as a rotational defensive end, but is more than capable of starting should Quinn or Hayes become injured. Sims is known for using his lengthy arms to bat down passes, and has seven deflections in his career. He is also valued for his special teams role, but expect to see him in more defensive series.
