The Rams’ interior offensive lineman was a seventh round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2016. The Rams picked him up in 2017 after being cut by the Colts. He was a backup in 2017, but in 2018, he started at right guard and had a fantastic year that saw career highs by Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. In 2019 at right guard, Austin Blythe looked like a weak link until Brian Allen went down with an injury. Blythe took over at center while the offensive line shuffled around and Blythe looked more like his old self. Losing Blythe would mean more youth on an offensive line that already struggled during a youth movement in 2019. Blythe likely won’t command the same money other interior offensive lineman have in recent years after a down season. Blythe likely gets a deal in the ballpark of 3 years/$12 million.
