2016-Present

L.A. Rams Roundup 6/30/17: All or Nothing, Aaron Donald, and Jared Goff’s development

There is a buzz in the air as Amazon’s All or Nothing series following the Los Angeles Rams during the 2016 season premieres on Friday, June 30. However, the series debuting on Amazon Prime is not the only thing going on with the Rams. Here is a roundup for what has been taking place in Rams’ circles in the last couple of days:

Aaron Donald – Orange County Register’s Rich Hammond took a look at Aaron Donald and his thoughts concerning the Rams’ new coaching staff. Hammond also notes that Donald is unwilling to talk about Donald’s current contract situation.

Ranking the QBs – ESPN ranked the Rams quarterbacks and ran a fan poll as well. Kurt Warner landed in first place in both polls with Jim Everett and Marc Bulger taking interesting spots in the NFL Nation and fan polls.

Developing Jared Goff – ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez got together with his colleagues covering the rest of the NFC West for a Q&A about Rams quarterback Jared Goff’s development in his second year. All of the writers appear to believe that Goff will take a step forward under new head coach Sean McVay in 2017. Of course, expectations are a bit lower after the 2016 debacle.

Speaking of QBs – Our Martin Cruz took a brief look at the past Rams quarterbacks that were drafted No.1 overall and how much progress they made entering their second year. He shows that, in terms of team history, there is not a trend to rely on. One quarterback faced injuries and another did not have a strong enough arm. How Jared Goff develops is anyone’s guess.

Derek Ciapala has been following the Rams since childhood. He has been published on Yahoo! Sports, Sports Out West and multiple other websites. You can check him out on Facebook or Twitter @dciapala.
