Linebacker: Can the pass rush make an impact?

Linebacker was far and away the weakest unit for the Rams last year, especially on the outside. A mid-season acquisition of Dante Fowler saved the Rams from starting Matt Longacre during the team’s playoff run. But the unit really wasn’t impressive even with Fowler.
The team made a splash at the position in free agency, re-signing Dante Fowler and bringing in legendary Packers pass-rusher Clay Matthews. Fowler, Matthews and Samson Ebukam will dominate the snaps at this position. If Matthews can turn back the clock and Fowler can produce, this unit could make a huge impact next to Aaron Donald. But it’s a big “if.”
